I recently purchased an Acer C710 Chromebook (the one with 16gb ssd hard drive). So far, I'm very pleased with it, but today I tried connecting some external storage devices, and they were not recognized. First, I tried 2 different USB memory sticks, and neither one was recognized. Then I tried two SD cards from my camera. The first was an SDHC card, and the other was a plain SD card. Once again, neither SD card was recoznied. They each had only 3 photos on them, so I know the problem wasn't that it was taking a long time to read the content on the SD cards. What's going on? The main reason I bought this Chromebook was to take it on vacation so I could upload the photos from my camera each day; if it won't even recognize my SD cards, this Chromebook may be going back to Best Buy!
Has anyone else had this problem?

I tested a Chromebook here in the office and it had no problems finding an SD card or a 16GB USB flash drive.
After plugging them in, it only took 3-4 seconds for the Drive box to appear with the files on the media listed.
If you are having issues with multiple pieces of hardware, SD card reader and all of the USB ports, I might suggest that you attempt to contact your local Acer support center for assistance.

Thanks Tommy!
I did an online chat with Acer support. I was given instructions on how to re-load the Chrome OS. But before I did that, I remembered that I hadn't tried the usual "shut down and reboot" process. Wouldn't you know it - the old reboot worked! I had no problems with my Chromebook reading my SD cards (and I tried regular SD and SDHC cards) or my flash drive. Go figure.
So now, all is well in my world!
