how i solved the dolby / realtek audio problem

this was for aspire 5750 but might apply to others.

a frequent cause of the problem was updating your realtek driver, and then getting a stupid message that said the softwares were "expecting a different version".  it was so annoying that many people deleted the dolby!

if you tried to go to dolby's site, those **bleep**ers will not give you the software back even though they KNOW about the acer 5750 problem!   and did acer put it on their driver support page?  .... NO!

so - here we go:

1.  make sure you have the latest realtek driver installed   it's in the section called 'high definition codecs'.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

(click 'accept' and 'next' to get to the driver)

if you have an older one, i would uninstall it first and then put in this new one,

2.  so now, how do you get your dolby back (assuming you can't find it now, or deleted it or whatever), when the dolby fools refuse to give it back to you, and acer doesn't want to put it up??

well, guess what:  Lenovo has the driver on their support page, and yes it is the same dolby driver!  you can install it after you have the realtek driver above, and here is the dolby driver - 'advance audio v2':

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?DocID=DS028945

just download it and install it.  you should now be good to go!

i hope i was able to help someone.

Don't do that because Dolby is professionally tuned for ACER, not LENOVO. Dolby Home Theater is embedded in the original Realtek Audio Driver downloadable on Acer website product page. Also don't download the driver from Realtek website because it's personalized for Acer. Just open Acer Recovery Management => Reinstall Drivers or Applications => Install Audio Codec => follow instructions and restart.
