Any news about the battery pack? For us, 1 or 2 potential aspire s7 purchases (maybe more later) are hinging on the future availability of the battery: if it's in the pipe, we're sold. Otherwise, it'll be the Macbook Air.
We don't need it now, but can you confirm that the pack is coming out soon?

The whole accessory issue is a disaster to be honest.
The manual specifically mentions a connector on the side of the S7 for a battery yet nobody can answer when or if this battery will appear.
But not only that, many people want 2 power supplies, one for a permanent fitting on their desk, and another for travel. You can't even buy a second power supply right now.
Want a replacement white bluetooth mouse that matches the laptop as supplied with the S7? You can't buy it separately. In fact, my one arrived with a crack in the right mouse button and Acer can't supply a replacement.

Finally, the extended battery is now available in Taiwan. Many online stores are listing it for NT$3800,which is about USD$120 (http://shopping.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhib
I do have to make a complaint about Acer's service. I called their customer service about 40 days ago and ask them to contact me the moment this extended battery is available for sale. Now the battery is all over the places, but I haven't heard nothing from their customer service. It's not a big deal. But it does show their attitude is sub-par. They should have given us the expected date of availability when we first contacted them. And they should have keep our email addresses in a mailing list, to keep us updated. I am disappointed that they did none of that and seemed indifferent to our needs.
Acer, I hope you are listening. I am a Taiwanese, I will support you no matter what. But the rest of the world won't. Please get your act together and give us the service that is on par with the design of this beautiful ultrabook S7.

Based on the capacity of the extended battery, it looks to add just under 50% to the current run-time.

can you tell if this is oem? Looks like 3rd party product.

Does this battery pack need a separate wire from the DC out into the system, seems unintuitive. Thought the battery will just directly plug in into the DC jack.

The user guide shows the S7 as having a special connector for the external battery. Normally you do not use the DC jack, because then the external battery will actually start to charge the internal one, which isn't what you want.

I had several rounds of emails to Singapore customer service department about the extended battery pack shown in the Taiwan store, to answer the question about it being Acer or 3rd Party and had the following response:
"It is our product but we are not carrying it in Singapore"
I dont know why they dont carry it (maybe too new?) but it is Acer

I have tried to order through the PCHome web page using Google Translate but it doesnt seem to translate anything once you enter the store (https causing a problem?). Has anyone found any other sites offering this product?

http://global.pchome.com.tw/english/?m=item&f=exhi
The global version of the site seems to have it, but I cant figure out how to JUST add the battery to the cart without ordering the whole laptop. Maybe if you log in...
The fact that we have to order it from an overseas site is sort of ridiculous.
