I have an Hotmail account and am using Windows 8.
I discovered that my deleted folder is full of emails that I thought had been deleted ages ago.
What seems to work is to open the deleted folder, highlight a message, and deleted again. ie click on the garbage can.
One apparently needs to delete from the deleted folder.
I suppose that this makes sense to someone (not me).
Hopes that this works for you.

We both have the same OS and program.
Deleting from the deleted folder works for me and it should for you.
You have to delete the emails one at a time, as follows.
Open deleted folder.
Highlight an email you want to delete.
Click on Garbage can.
That email should now longer be in the deleted folder.
Keep repeating, one at a time, for all the other emails that you want to delete.
Let us know if it works for you too.

Ah. The plot thickens.
Open the deleted folder.
Do a ctrl+a . This highlights all the emails in the folder.
Click the garbage can, and they all vanish (to cyber oblivion, we hope).
