can't boot from Image made with Acer backup manager

Hi,

Recently tried installing an SSD into my v3-771G to install win7 as a dual boot option to the original win8 that came with lappy.

Couldn't get this to work at all.

In the process made an Image of original drive onto USB HD (with recovery linux software on USB stick)

Successfully restored Image after I lost all settings on both Drives (I ended up using clone software and having win8 on SSD on HDD1). I think this was caused by either a failed windows update (.net3.5) or something similar. Each boot had to run scandisc.

Anyway, took the plunge and restored from Image, which said it worked, but no the Laptop can't boot. It says device not available 0x00025 error.

I am thinking of cleaning all using diskpart, and trying again. Is it possible the boot partition is damaged?

I am not enjoying this UEFI/legacy bios bizness.

Any suggestions welcome for an attempt at complete recovery.

Thanks

Re: can't boot from Image made with Acer backup manager - FIXED

Fixed. Created a restore disk from within windows. Booted to that, and ran diskpart, and cleaned the problem disk.

Removed SSD with dodgy win8 clone, and restored from Image.

No Boot errors!

I think what had happened is that I cloned my win8 onto SSD, and some boot settings were on each disk, which I suppose makes sense if you clone a drive!
