I ran into a problem with certain steam games that would crash constantly even after going through the usual steps of video card drivers update, re-installs and so on. After a bit more research it would seem that its a common problem on AMD FX-Series processor and that the fix is a bios update that should fix the problem.

So I first ran belarc advisor to identify the motherboard/bios:

Board: Acer Aspire M3450
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: AMI P01-A3 11/01/2011

Then I got the BIOS update P01.A3(2.4mb 01/02/2012) on acer support.
I followed the steps contained in the readme.doc that was included in the downloaded file:

In [Windows Mode]

By Windows command line

2.1 Run Command Prompt as Administrator in Windows.
Windows 64bit

Key in ‘cd WinTool\64’ (Go to BIOS path like “D:\ WinTool\64”)
Key in ‘WFlash2M.bat’ or ‘WFlash2M’

Press <Enter> and start to flash System BIOS

Here is where the problem occur, WFlash2m.bat would not run and instead I got this message:

WFlash2M.bat is not recognized has an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

So I suppose the question is how do I update my bios on the Acer aspire m3450?

As far as I am aware there is no option to start in dos mode on windows 7.

No matter the means taken to update it the last step is always the ‘Flash2M.bat’ file wich simply doesn't exist in that BIOS_Acer_p01.A4_Windows download files.

I guess im gonna need baby steps Smiley Wink I've contacted acer support but its taking forever atm. Thanks for the answer tho

edit: The rest of the readme.doc is gibberish like ---> ÐÏࡱá and all sorts of weird simbols.

    Hello m8.

    1. First you need to create a bootable flash drive.

    (http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sj0eZzM9j14)

    2. Copy folders DosTool and ROM on flash drive.

    3. Start computer with flash drive. (switch off pc, put flash drive to usb plug, start pc, push F12 button till you get new screen with options to choose, find your flash drive and select it,after that your pc start with usb flash drive~)

    4. In Dos mode you need to go to your flash drive letter (like A: or C: or D: or which one you will be have),

    5. Than you need to type

    cd DosTool <press enter>

    Flash.bat <press enter>

and your new BIOS should start programming.

    6. Reboot system and Press <Del> to enter BIOS setup menu.
    7. Load default setting, and Save & Exit.

P.S. sorry if something is too complicated or too simple and unnecessarily explain, I do not want to offend you.

This helped me so much! Thank you!

Quick question: How critical is the last step,

    6. Reboot system and Press <Del> to enter BIOS setup menu.
    7. Load default setting, and Save & Exit.

? Because it's difficult to get ack into the Bios for me. Idk why, but the options to press the keys to go into bios show very rarely, and idk how to fix that. So I just have to wait till I'm lucky again to get into it.
