I understand that you are having difficulty with the system operating on battery.
Remove and reseat the battery.
When plugged in, does the battery charge?
What lights do you get on the system?
What status shows in the systray in Windows?

Try this...
If that doesn't fix it, it may be a bad battery.

I went through all steps listed in this post and still my battery is not charging.
If I connect battery to the power is working but without AC adapter power will not turn of is like battery is not there.
I tried another solution going to:
1 -control panel/device manager
2- unistalled Microsoft AC adapter and Microsoft ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery.
3- Turned off laptop
4- Removed battery
5- Installed battery
6- Turned on laptop again.
I have repeated the same proccedure and updated the drivers in Device Manager to have the latest ones for AC and battery and additionally I used a different Acer charger from another Acer laptop to confirm charger is not the problem but...
Nothing worked so far.
Any advice would be appreciated. I bought a laptop but is currently is stuck to the desk as a desktop ![]()

My laptop is Aspire V5 471 series running Windows 8. I bought it in January this year but I had this problem just few days ago.
