I have an Acer Aspire 5560. Just got the automatic update now I got the error message "acer updater has known compatability issues with this version of windows" (Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1). A lot of people on the Acer Facebook page are having the same problem, regardless of the model. Any ideas
I cancelled the Acer update.
On the Yahoo Answers board someone posted a hotfix link which I haven't had the guts to try. If anyone does try it let me know if it helps

Since Jan 2013 I've had to reinstall the op system, then I had to ship it back in December for a new sound card. And now this.

Use the software from the link! I ran the windows tool that helps check for a problem and it says a software update would fix the issue and linked to the same page that you linked to in your post.
Cheers!

I had the same pop up on my acer 5830 and ran the windows search for the solution and it directed me http://global-download.acer.com/SupportFiles/LiveU
The 5830 isn't one of the listed products so I ran option 2... the hotfix
So far so good. Guess I was just nervous about doing it because the webpage you are directed to doesn't look very official... would feel a lot better if the landing page was part of the official Acer website

Funny to see you've also had issues with your sound from your Acer. My speakers turned incredibly tinny and were distoring all sounds on Skype or streaming videos online or listening to music. Weirdly some other things like YouTube worked fine. Anyway, I found a website that suggested deleting the HD sound softare that comes on your laptop... I tried it and now my sound is good again... weird I know.

We have the Aspire 5250-BZ873 and I downloaded the regular before I realized the last part of the lable probably counted as part of the model number??? At any rate, the download and run went smoothly so we'll see if there are any further problems other than the non-compatibility msg. Thanks for the info/path to follow! I'll post if it seems to work to let other 5250-xxxx know if it's successful! ![]()
