XC600 doesn't boot anymore

Hi,

I'm using my new XC600 for a week now. as i have discovered that you can't create a backup on DVD, i have ordered a 16 Gb USB stick in order to have a backup. The PC was delivered with Windows 8.

I have launched the operation and let it run. 15 minutes later i have found my PC displaying black screen and not responding to any interaction (keyboard, mouse, Ctrl + Alt +Spr) and i have had to switch it off. On the next start the PC mentionned that it encountered a problem and start a diagnostic, then tried to repair the system, but it ran in an endless loop...

I finally arrived on the troubleshot menu a tried to use a restore point, an alert raised saying that the FS was corrupted, i have launched the repair process that successfully finished. I have then been able to load a restore point but the pc still can't boot, always displaying Diagnostic - Try to repair - Can't repair, etc...

I guess i have no other choice than restore the whole system, i have two questions :

- During the week i have stored many data on the D:/ drive that i'd like to retrieve, if i restore the system does this partition will be deleted ?

- Knowing that the PC is only a week old, shouldn't i immediatly contact the support, if the DD has a problem for example i'll probably face similar situations soon, and i have to reinstall all my softwares each time !

Thanks for your return.

I'll attempt to address both questions:

The system should not touch the data partition (DSmiley Happy and only restore the primary system partition.

It is not clear specifically what the error was or how it occurred.

I'm not sure that contacting support would result in anything but asking you to attempt recovery first.

If you continue to have issues, it would be good to contact service at that time.
