I purchased an Aspire V3-571, which arrived yesterday. After upgrading from the pre installed windows 8 to my own licenced copy of windows 8 pro with media centre, I lost the webcam application somehow.
However, it is not listed on the software download page for the v3-571 with windows 8.
I ended up selecting windows 7 as the OS, and it then listed it for download (it seems to work fine on windows 8).
I had the exact same problem with my old laptop (Aspire 5552) with the empowering technology toolbar after a reformat. It simply did not appear on the site for any windows 7 laptops (only windows vista, but that copy would not work on windows 7). A factory restore using the recovery disks did not get it back either.
Edit: After looking around the forum, I have just remembered that the download was available on the site. However, it had the same issue as in http://community.acer.com/t5/Special-Interest-Disc
There is no setup file in the archive after downloading it.

Hi Friend,
Here you go if a preinstalled Windows 8 app was removed you can find it on the Windows Store. Use the following steps to download and install a removed app:
The apps you reinstall can be found at the end of your Start Screen or under the All Apps menu.

Just wanted to say thanks.
I found the camera software in the store. However, as it used metro, which I had disabled (to get the start menu back) using ex7 for win8 it didn't work. I've now re-enabled metro, and used start8 to get the start menu back, and now the camera application is accessible via the metro interface.
Thanks again for the help.
