Why cant I get the erecovery thumb drive?

I have an Acer Aspire One 722-0473. My hard drive has died so I will be getting and installing a new hard drive. I am assuming I need recovery disks in order to get the operating system on the new hard drive. I looked on for the erecovery disk and when I input my SN it only offers me the CD bundle. My netbook does not have a CD drive so shouldn't it allow me to get the thumb disk. Do I even need it or is there a way to get windows on the new hard drive? I have the Product Key on the bottom of the computer.

Unfortunately, recovery USB drives are not available for this system, at this time. You would need to use an external optical drive, to complete the recovery using RCDs.
