it is not the right bios, if you are upgrading a win 7 computer with windows 8.

I would love a further explination.

Is it ok to use the newer (not for upgrades) bios if your using Windows 7 or is it JUST for Windows 8?

If it is for Windows 8, is it saying you cannot use it if you upgraded from Windows 7 or does it mean you need to wait to use it until after you do the upgrade to Windows 8 from 7?

If we could get an official answer to this it would be great as it affects many many models and even shows up on other manufacturers using Acer motherboards (such as my Gateway) and there is not one proper explination anywhere.  The worst part is that on my particular system (Gateway DX4870-UR11P with the Acer IPIMB-AR motherboard) the one bios available without saying "not for upgrades" is the very oldest bios but there is 3 newer that do say "not for upgrades" and I plan on staying on Windows 7 at least for now so am completely unsure if I can enjoy the use of ANY updated bios for the system.

Thanks in advance for any answers.
