After powering down and then booting the F2 and F12 keys have no effect-the system just boots into windows 8.1 which I was upgraded to.

Even after accessing the bios through the windows start-up options the changes I make to the boot options have no effect and, yes, I have saved them. I was able to enable the F12 option though so it is just the boot options that cannot be changed.

When I go back into the bios the settings are as before!

I saw a similar problem on here where the laptop was returned to Acer who solved the problem by downgrading the bios from v2.11 to v2.09.

Any suggestions to solve this problem would be greatrly appreciated.

You need to tap the F2 key as soon as you restart the computer since windows 8 loads too fast.

You may also perfrom a power reset by removing the battery and pressing the power button for 10 ton 15 seconds, then try to enter BIOS without inserting the battery.
