Went from 7 to 8 Pro. Downloaded and installed a number of drivers to fix a number of problems. I have two significant problems left:
1.Internal microphone doesn't work now. It picks up sounds *very* faintly and crackles. Spent an hour with Microsoft: it's the driver. Have an external attached and it works fine.
2. Keyboard shortcuts in 8 don't work - at all. Microsoft was able to remotely control my system, including shortcuts, but it can't be done locally.
3. Wanted to know if it's necessary to update the VGA drivers. Seems to work fine now. Just want to make sure.
Thanks!

Windows 8 Upgrade Offer program page:
http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/windows-upgrad
The Aspire 3810T notebook is not listed as part of the upgrade program.
We do not provide Windows 8 drivers for this system.
Regarding the video driver, if the hardware seems to be working, it would not be necessary to update the driver.

The microphone problem is clearly a driver issue, and you're telling me the 3810T is *not* a "part of the upgrade program"? I've only had this for a little over a year, and Windows 8 was clearly in the pipeline even when I originally purchased it. Without a mic, specially for the work I do, this computer is relatively useless. Would that make *anyone* want to purchase a system from Acer again?!
I can see the sound level bars move in the settings window, but it's just not
Since you don't make the actual hardware, is there a way to find an updated driver from Conexant, directly?
This lapse is inexcusable. If I can't fix this I will revert to 7, sell this and never look back. I've already had this thing in for service and out if my hands for a total of over 30 days, all within one year!

Hi,
In general, Win 8 does not work quite like it should on my 3810t.
Two issues are persistent. 1) the internal microphone still doesn't work, and the power indicator tray icon has disappeared - well, most of the time.
These issues won't fix themselves, and I've contacted both microsoft and Conexant. Both have asked me to contact Acer. My system isn't only about 1.5 years old.
How do you recommend Win 8 gets sorted on it?
Thanks

By the way, the 3810T is, indeed, supported. Just not the 3G option.

I have added a few more notes, and have downloaded and installed all the recommended drivers from the Acer upgrade assistant (which recognized my system as being supported). After the downloads, I now have another problem: for certain applications, GoogleTalk in particular, I do not have audio. So:
1. Errant Win8 behavior (like the apps window automatically minimizing)
2. Internal mic no longer works
3. Audio for some applications no longer works
Please let me know when you can address these issues. Thanks.
