I knew I had a little SSD in my Ultrabook M3-581TG to make Win7 boot faster. At first it was REALLY fast, I loved it. Then I needed to reformat an exrternal HDD and unintentionally I did something with my built-in SSD - sorry I can't remember. Since then the SSD is visble in My Computer, Win7 boots in significantly slower, apart from that the ultrabook works fine. Can you help regain the former outstanding boot speed? Ihx!

Hi
I strongly suspect that the idea behind your machine is similar to an acer s3 I had ie standard (but probably 7mm depth mechanical hard drive, I'd put good money on it being a Hitachi Branded one) and small 20gb SSD for boot/ hybernation.
When I upgraded mine to Windows 8 I decided to "clean install" and in doing so inadvertentl;y deleted the ssd from the menu.
After that my boot time was slower I strongly suspect you may have done something similar. How I got round this was to remove the ssd "panel" from the machine boot up/ power down/ then replace it. Then to look for some power settings I think called IRST in the bios enable that and it worked as before.
The above is "dooable" if the machines out of warranty and your technically proficient. If in warranty then just use Acers tech support and see if it can be returned for repair

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, unfortuantely my machine si still under warranty and I am not really technically proficient. I tried to turn to Acer tech support several times, but they have not recognized the IDs of my machine though I provided all the necessary IDs and codes semiautomatically then manually - I have been receiving fault messages.
Any other ideas how I can get back the boot and hyebernate functions of my 16 GB SSD?
Thx!

No further ideas unfortunately.
The reason I think it worked for me was that its a bit like apc tower not rercognising a card plugged into one of its pci slots when you remove it and reinstall it then the pc sees it again I believe its similar with your acer ultrabook.
I can only suggest keep contacting acer and e mail them etc as much as possible
