The right touchpad button on my Acer V5-131-2629 has suddenly stopped working as it should and is doing the same thing as the left button. For an example, if I open WIndows Explorer and right click a file I should get the context menu with options to Open, Cut, Copy, Paste, View Properties or whatever is appropriate for thaat file. Now, if I right click, the file is selected the same as it would be if I single clicked the left button. If I double click the right button, it opens the file.
I checked Device Manager for problems and do not see any. I also ran System Restore and selected a date prior to when the problem began without solving the problem. I am not sure what else to check to try to fix this problem.

Did you check the touchpad settings in Control Panel?

I think it is a hardware problem. I booted to a Linux Live DVD, and have the same problem. Since it happened with the Live DVD, it obviously is not a Windows or driver problem.

It could very well be a driver/program problem.
I don't believe Windows has a driver by default and I would be surprised if Linux did.
Did you check the settings as Tommy asked?

Yes, I did check control panel in Safe Mode and a normal boot. I have since figured out it is an intermittent problem. I will call Support.

Problem solved. I just found out that the right button has an abnormal placement. This touchpad does not have buttons that you can see - they are hidden under the pad. The right button, instead of being on the right side of the pad, is just the lower right corner. The entire rest of the pad is the left button.
I've has this notebook for 2 months, just now found the user's manual buried in the the start menu.
This will be the last time I buy a notebook online. This adds one more to the things I am not happy with.
