Repair Center Problem

I sent my laptop in for repair. Packed the computer in the origanal box with bubble wrap. The corners were extra reinforced with bubble wrap. Sent UPS. I received email from repair center that computer had physical damage[small ding on one corner that was not there when i shipped] from shipping and it would cost me more to fix the laptop than originally paid for it. I called the number they sent me and was told that they did not damage it and I should file a claim with UPS. I have the pics they sent me and no corners of the box are damaged at all. Someone at the repair center dropped it and Acer wants UPS to pay for it. Anyone else have this problem? I am contacting UPS tomorrow to let them know whats up. I am an extremely honest person and do not think I should screw UPS with a claim. It all sounds like a scam to me. The laptop was only 6 months old and 2 of those it was not being used because you couldnt turn it on.  What should I do? Not but another acer product for sure.
