I'm trying to recover my Aspire 3680 and do the Alt+F10 and full recovery process, when it loads, does all the steps in recovery/installing programs....then it just hangs for more then 2 hours trying to install - Acer Empowering Technlogy screen stuck on last step trying to install Acer eRecovery Management program. Any suggestions in actually fixing this stuck step ? thanks, HC.
can I get the Acer eRecovery Management program and install it after the o/s is up ? running vista home 32 bit.

The "hangs at step X" during recovery may be an indication of a hard drive issue.
Have you attempted to restore the system from optical media?
There is no Acer eRecovery Management software available outside of the factory load we provide on our systems.
It may be possible to locate some recovery media through the Acer Store or technical support, depending on your region and availability/age of the system.

If your system is not the exact model of the original poster, you need to provide all of the information listed in the How to get quick and efficient help article.
Have you attempted to boot from the optical media?

okay, here is what hapens.
1) when I hit the recovery process, it boots, and installs vista with no problem, the issue is when it comes to 'Acer Launch' supposed to do the 10 steps on Acer software install. The 9/10 step, it gets stuck for 'Install eRecovery solution', please wait. Waiting too long, nothing is happening. Did a hard reboot (hit the power button), it reboots to vista again, and still gets stuck at this 9 out of 10 steps. I know its not hardware because it came with a 'vista' media, bare bones o/s, I tried installing it with no issues buth then I have to re-install all the Acer Software which again will not include the eRecovery solution.
2) What i'm tring to do is once I can get this Acer eRecovery solution software installed successfully, then I can cut a recovery disk for this laptop. I can't even do that because its stuck at the 9th step. Is there a way to bypass this step ? I did notice there is a directory called AcerSW with a subfolder called eRY (which shows some kind'of Acer recovery software), but still unsuccessful, I tried to execute it and get errors.
at this point I'm going to feel like giving up and just install win 7 x64 instead of taking all this time for factory recovery which is not very well documented. At least I know that the Acer recovery partition works (because it boots, installs) but just hangs.
BTW: again, everytime i reboot, it gets to the step of installing eRecovery solution, and can't do anything, this screen is up front of all windows I open.

Have you attempted to boot into Safe Mode?
At that point you could run a check on the hard drive.
Before installing Windows 7, please read this:

Scanned the disk and no errors or bad sectors found. Anyway of actually seeing if the PQ partition is corrupted or something ? Although, highly unlikely since it still restores.... justs gets stuck in the 9th step of recovery.

Correct, the PQ service partition is not affected. The system is already restored.
You are going through the initial setup.

I've given up on this crazy Acer eRecovery program, since it hangs, I decided to install a fresh copy of Win 8 64bit, here are the screen images that it works, only issue is the modem, I don't have the modem drivers for 64 bit, if anyone knows where this is, then that be great, otherwise. I'm happy with the new o/s. ( I can live without a modem driver ).
Goodbye to Vista and the Acer Recovery program.
thanxs for the help anyways.
