I bought the R7 abaout 3 months ago and i tought that i was the only one with this problem. Unfortunately there are many defected units nationwide. I was reading this thread and i decided to try something my way. This might make many of you laugh but iam old school and tried the following. Shaked the laptop while paying attention to the reception bar. The signal strenght went from pretty much nothing to 4-5 bars (max). This simple cheking method telling me that there cold be a soldering issue, ground or open wire existing somewhere in the laptop. Have a look see
I know that metal casing lap tops reception not 100% all the time but there must be something wrong when i loose connection out of nowhere and my sony and my toshiba right next to each other and simply just online surfing the web. Keep on shaking the R7 at least a little exercise for me ![]()
ps: I wish that Acer can find a solution for this issue asap.

first Best buy is well aware that this product has problems
I am on my third one
My wife bought one that doesnt work right either
Sony can have problems too
I know I recently returned one of their laptops
Dont be too critical until you see one work
Everything looks good on paper
Acer has to do something soon
Either bring out a new one or fix the old one
I have a service plan
as should everyone who buys this
There is new updates on the Acer site
I tried that
still no difference
Waiting.... Waiting.... Waiting for the world to change
Great song

humm i see R7 still has issues... it has been a long wait, is Acer introducing new models? Sony introduced Sony Vaio Flip 15 after the vaio duo fiasco(same as R7), and is available for pre-order. Sony FLIP is one of the cool designs after ezel, without the R7's akward keyboard layout. I am going to wait a week or so to see if Acer has something up their sleevs and glup Sony Flip...

I have replaced the wifi card and seen a very minor impovement.
I am thinking about swapping it back and contacting Acer to get a replacement, but I have updated my windows 8 to PRO ($100 update) and I'm afraid getting a new laptop will cause an issue there.
I have also spent a lot of time getting the computer setup and I have a lot of work tools installed and data I would have to backup.
How do they normally handle this sort of thing? I am most concerned with loosing my windows 8 PRO upgrade, and being without a work computer for weeks... and I've seen so many reports of other users getting refurbished laptops with other issues... I payed almost $1,000 for this laptop... I didnt buy a refurbished unit and I DO NOT want one.

Ok, I contacted Acer and was promptly redirected to level 2 support.
I was assured that I would have no problem installing my windows 8 PRO upgrade on the replacement, and was promised I would get a NEW (not refurbished) unit.
I gave a credit card # for advance replacment and they are sending me a new unit. The agent I chatted with was very helpful and I am hopeful that my issue will be fixed.

Hi guys, I was having similar issues (on a V5, not an R7), I just uninstalled "Acer Device Fast-Lane" and my WiFi problems seem to have disappeared!
