When I try printing a photo on photo paper, I get a 'Paper out' message. If I then press 'Print' on the printer screen, the paper is taken through the printer but does not print. Can anyone advise me of a solution to this problem?

In my post a few moments ago I forgot to mention my printer is an Epson XP-405 expression

This is really a case for you to read your printer user's manual. If you haven't got one Epson should have them available on their website.
That being stated, do you have more than one paper input tray? Are you putting more than one photo paper in your input tray? Usually paper is passed through the printer (without printing) when a print job is cancelled. There are just too many possibilities to be able to comment meaningfully without more details.
