No sound coming out of tv when connected via HDMI

Hello all! I have an acer aspire 4820TG laptop. The problem is everytime I connect my laptop to the tv via hdmi cable the sound still comes out from the laptop. I've tried going to the control panel the sound and setting it to HDMI out but I can't see the HDMI out icon even if i've clicked  on "show disabled/disconnected devices". I only see the icons speaker and realtek digital output.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Re: No sound coming out of tv when connected via HDMI

You must have HDMI connected in order to see the connection as "available" for switching.

Why am I not hearing sound when using the HDMI connector on my notebook?
