My computer won't start and says it needs a boot disk. NEED HELP!

My computer shut down one day and I can't get it to start up. It says to insert a boot disk, but I don't have a boot disk and I can't find one on line. Can anyone provide any experience or answers?

Have you left a cd in the drive or a usb device plugged in? You BIOS settings may be such that they are looking to external devices first and will not search further. Typically a music CD in the optical drive may cause an issue, but it isn't the only thing.
