My Acer AX3400 slim tower PC does not boot

Hi All,

Wondering anybody has any suggestions for my Acer AX3400 slim tower PC.

When I push the power button on the top of PC box, the blue light flash quickly then off, I can hear fan start running, but no any booting beeping, the PC does not boot. However, I do have little chance (around 1 out of 20) to have it boot up. Once the PC is booted, everything works well, the PC runs stably.

The headache is just it is so difficult to power the PC on. Is this a mechanical problem of the power button? Or the mother board is damaged?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'd make sure that the power plug is set snug in the outlet first. Sometimes, if the plug is not in there all the way, you will get this issue. If it is in a power strip, I'd replace the strip just in case that power strip is going bad as well. Also, make sure that the power plug is snug in the back of the computer. If it comes on sometimes, then there may be a short in the cord somewhere. This is where I would start first, before getting into the computer itself.

Hi Tabbiekatz,

Thanks for your suggestions. I actually tried to used different power outlets, power bar, even different power cords, the problem are all same. You know when I press the power button, The CPU fan start spinning, it does get power.

I also tried remove the RAM chips then install them again, will not help.

Is there a BIOS "button battery" on the motherboard in this PC? I would like to see if that battery is not properly sitted.

I think the CMOS battery is soldered on the motherboard, but there should be a jumper next to it to clear the CMOS.

Could be a over heating problem you might need to re apply thermal paste to to CPU, check connections in side computer, re install Operating system. If none of these work buy a new MB. Had similar issue.

I have the same problem. But more interesting are two informational blue screens before that..
The blue screens informed me the there were problems/conflicts with the IRQ's and DMA.
My guess is that resetting the bios to factory default will solve the problem, but didn't find how to..yet.

pull the cmos battery and unplung the computer first let it set out for about 5 minutes. if this does not reset the bios there is a jumper you will have to use to restet the bios.  You can find vidoes on you tube that will assist you.
