My ACER Aspire makes a squealing noise.

I went to BETT, found the ACER stand and asked the following. My ACER Aspire makes a squealing noise, sometimes when lid is shut, sometimes when speakers are plugged in and I get to close or its too close to another object.

Was told to try control panel/sound/recording but- it says 'no audio devices are installed' so I cant turn anything off!!

I have also googled every help group I can and although it seems this not an uncommon fault no-one had been able to offer a solution. What now?

It is helpful to let the community know the following:

What computer do you have?
What operating system is on the computer?

Do you have an audio device in the Device Manager?

Anything with an ! or X on it?
