Hi all I'm new to this type of forum, sometimes when my laptop is plugged in it will shut down vive noticed when I do a Microsoft security scan it shuts down, vive looked it up and people say it could be the CPU or the fan, any ideas what I can do to stop it or replace or fix the fan?

Hi mat!

Sounds as if you have an overheating problem. Buy a can of compressed air from your local PC store, and use it to clean your fan and vents, which may be due to a build up of dust.

If you're confident enough, open up your laptop. This will make it easier to clean.

Another idea is to buy a laptop cooler, this will help to keep your laptop cool and from shutting down.
