Installing SSD in S3 / Making recovery DVD's with external optical drive

I bought a 128gb SSD for my S3-391.  I am running windows 8 and I have come across the fact that I cannot use a bootable USB recovery drive to install my OS on to the new SSD once it is installed in the computer.  There is an memo on Acer's site that explains this.  Anyway, I would like to install the SSD but I am not sure the best way of doing it.  I could get an external optical drive and burn the recovery DVD's but I am afraid that the "cannot use USB recovery to install SSD" would still be relavent since the data would still be going over USB.  My other option would be to buy a usb enclosure for the ssd and migrate my OS to the ssd.  I would rather not do that because it could cause some alignment issues with the ssd, but honestly I just want to get the thing installed as soon as possible.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help in advance.
