Iconia W510 Internet Connect micro usb2 to ethernet

Help here would be greatly appreciated! Has anyone tried to connect the iconia w510 tablet to the internet via the micro usb2 port with the ethernet adaptor? I use the wifi when out & about, but wife won't let me have wifi at home so I am left with "sectretly" using phone hotspot. Acer store advises spare part micro usb2 - ethernet adaptor avail for W510 (LC.OTH0A.020-A05-AS) but when click on details, it advises "excludes Aspire ICONIA Tablets Compatible Operating Systems" so has anybody tried to connect to internet through ethernet cable?
