I have the Aspire 5733-6426 (model PEW71) and my dvd drive has suddenly stopped working, seemingly over night. I can't burn music, play movies, nothing! Why did this happen and can it be fixed?

I'm unable to answer "why" but I can certainly point you to your local service center to get it fixed.

If CD drives shows exclamation mark in Device manger , you can run Microsoft fixit to fix the issue.

Thank you for your suggestion of microsoft fix it. The cd/dvd icon in Device Manager DID have an exclamation point next to it, so I ran MS fix it and it did not even detect a problem! ![]()
