I can't use the mousepad on my laptop.

I am unable o use the mouse pad no my Aspire E1 Laptop.  The mouse icon does not show up at all.  I can right click though.  It works through the number pad but it is not set up for that.  I have plugged in an external mouse and that works perfectly.  It has been ok up until today.  Only bought laptop last week.  Any help would be appreciated.

tap f6 key alone once or

hold fn+ tap f6 once if not

tap f7 key alone once or

hold fn+ tap f7 once

surely it should work
