I can't hear sounds on my Windows 8 Acer Aspire Laptop!

Hello.
My problem is, that I cannot hear any type of sound on my acer aspire. It was working fine yesterday, but then all of a sudden, the sound stopped working. I can't watch YouTube videos, either.

Whenever I try to drag sound onto my Vegas projects and try to listen to them, an error message pops up saying, "The playback device Speakers (Realtek High Definiti does not exist."

Please help me. Thank you.

What have you done to attempt to troubleshoot this issue?

Does the device exist in Device manager?

Have you attempted to uninstall and reinstall the audio drivers?
