I am confused about Acer Backup

I have a few specific folders that I want to back up. I want to be able to plug the memory stick into the computer anytime and have it add or modify any changed files. Do I do it as follows.

I click on backup my files.

I uncheck everything except entire folders.

I then select the specific folders.

What confuses me are the other options that I have unchecked. Am I correct in not using them if I only want specific folders?
