This task bar icon and notification (audio and visual) occurs several times a minute. I'm pretty sure this started day one when I connected the wireless keyboard to charge it for the first time. It is driving me insane because I have set in notification area settings to hide icon and notifications for it like stated in all solutions to the issue I find in google searching for a solution, yet it persists. So I need someone to help me make window behave correctly or what not and the icon and notifictions and the noise stops occuring several times a minute. I do not want a cover all removal though because I do care about other icons and notifications from the task bar. As that is the only other solution I have been able to find.

Thanks

Have you attempted to get the proper driver for the USB device?

Do you have ! or X on a device in Device Manager?

If so, what is the device id?

The sole purpose of the USB connection is for charging as far as I'm aware. It is the keyboard that came with the w700p. The connection for use the keyboard is through bluetooth and that is working fine. It charges fine so I'd be shocked if a driver is needed for the USB connection. There are no devices shown in device manager with ! or X. When the brief moment the USB message appears in devices and printers a new entry shows of saying something unknown device but goes away too fast for me to get the whole label.

Many times, there is a lack of full information on what is being connected to a system.  It pays to ask.

From what you have stated, you are getting an erroneous error from the USB 'connecting' and 'disconnecting' that flashes, but never stays.  You are not quite sure when it started, nor have you connected hardware which you believe is the cause of the messages.

I can think of only a couple of things to try.

Safe Mode and check the USB devices listed, and remove them.  The valid pieces of hardware will reinstall on normal start.

Reload the OS and ensure that you do not have something odd hanging around that is causing the issue.

Finally ... it might be a USB port issue.

if it helps any the only things that have got connected to the USB port were the charger connection for the keyboard and the dock that both came with the w700p. This is brand new only had it for a few months. So if the port is bad I assume a warranty issue which would stink because I also assume that means I need to image the drive wipe it and exchange it. I'm leaning towards a not bad port at this time. It did go away for a week or two and started again when I connected the keyboard by the USB cable to charge it. Which is why I suspected it to be the cause. I don't see a subsection in the list in device manager named USB devices. I do see USB controllers, I'm not sure if that is the section you mean. So I'm not really sure what if anything I should remove even under other sections. I appreciate your help in trying to solve this. It looks like there are possible newer drivers for some of the hardware following the link in your signature vs the date of purchase.

    Man

I sometimes encountering message USB not recognized .. but that is OBVIOUSLY not tablet issue !

For first .. it can be cheap device what u connect means sometimes it reads sometimes doesnt

secondly usb not recognized shows when there is no much power .. u probably using USB hub for 4 more USBs

this USB can cary max 3 USB 3.0

thirdly  message can shows up when in advanced power settings u have set  USB selective suspend settings enabled

means on battery when this is enabled it will suspend .. (i have it disabled even on battery and even when plugged in ..

The drivers are correct cos they are auto installed either from update or acer site .. that is not issue unless u havent installed manually some of yours..

I don't have a USB hub. I have had the need to connect anything by USB other than the keyboard that came with the w700p. Howver I'm going to change the power policy and set that USB setting to disabled on all profiles for both battery and plugged in. Acer live updater I don't think works right. It gives me no message even when i click check for updates in it. I am guessing that any updates released after the purchase date would need me to install them either by live updater or by download from their website of which neiter sources have I performed updates. It may be some time before I can conclude that the change in power profile is the solution to the problem.
