So I went to a friends house today with my computer. We were going to play some Dota 2 but i got the limited logo when I connected, not allowing me to do anything. This happenes any time I am not using my own wifi. I have an acer aspire v5 running windows 8. No touch screen. No ram or graphics upgrades. I really need to be able to connect. Please help.

Provide the exact model number of your computer. You could also install the wireless driver from ACER website

It is possible that you are not allowed to sign onto his account. It is also possible that your laptop is trying to log onto a neighbor's account.

Welcome back. There is an obscure possibility (although I doubt it) that your friend is using a different type of WiFi. Most WiFi antennae cover three or four different systems, and most routers broadcast three or four different systems. But it is a possibility.

I dont think so. I would guess that one of them used the same kind of wifi. It also used to work there but just resently stoped.

Now we're getting somewhere. If it used to work at his house but suddenly does not, then something changed.  Did you upgrade anything? Did your friend upgrade anything?

I doubt it will work, but running a deep scan with your antivirus program is a good idea anyway.
