Gateway Laptop NV73A Will Not Post

I'm hoping someone can help me here.

I have a Gateway Laptop Model NV73A.  All of a sudden it will not post.  It will power on but that's all.  Specifically, when I press the power button the power light illuminates, the DVD drive clicks a few times, the fan turns on and then nothing.  I *THINK* the problem is the cable running from the motherboard to the screen hinge has come loose.  Therefore, it doesn't think the screen has been opened when in reality it has.  However, I have NO idea how to get to it. Has anyone experienced this problem that can help me out here?

BTW, I've tried the power reset several times.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

There are a few things for you to attempt:

Have you attempted to power the system just on AC Adapter?

Have you attempted to connect an external monitor?

Unfortunately, to check the video cable would require a large amount of disassembly on the system.

We do not provide technical or service manuals.

I will go ahead and give you the link for Acer Service and Support so that it is available to you.

    Acer-Tommy,

I did try powering it with just the AC Adapter (battery removed).  No go.  I also tried using an external monitor.

The problem is after pressing the power button, the power light illumintates, the fan kicks on and the DVD player clicks a few times (powers up), but there is NO disk activity after that.  No post.
