Recently got external digital speakers for Acer Aspire Timeline 3820T-6480.  They're plugged in, turned on, lit up, but no sound.   The only sound is from the laptop's speakers.  External speakers should override the internal ones.  What do I need to do??  Thanks in advance!

Are they plugged in correctly in the right audio outlet?

These are usually color coded, maybe you want to verify that.

Also try your external speakers on another device and see if they work on that device.

Hope these suggestions help otherwise check your audio drivers of the computer as well. Check the volume keys and see if nothing has been disabled with regards to audio settings.
