My mom (an elderly woman) purchased an Aspire One on March 14, 2012. The hard drive failed and was replaced under warranty by Acer on 2/27/13. The computer was mailed back to her but she "was not able to get it working" - she thought she was doing something wrong. When it starts up, it only shows a single white cursor in the top left corner. Nothing else happens, there is no bios menu, no keystrokes at all seem to register. The only way to power it off is to hold the power button down. Now it is out of warranty (ended 3/14/13, but I wasn't able to look at it until I visited her this month), so I can't get any help on this thing. It seems to me that since it was "fixed" under warranty, but was returned in a completely unusable condition, that I should be able to send it back in for my mom and get a working computer out of the deal. Unfortunately I can't even contact customer support without giving them my credit card number and an authorization to charge me $200!!! Can anyone help me here?

When a compoent is replaced and returned to you, you have 7 days to contact ACER if its not working correctly. If you fail to do so, well you stuffed.

Only times I have run into similar problems, with the cursor on the left, were times someone didnt get the hard drive cable plugged in all the way.
Disconnect and reconnect her HD, make sure it is plugged in snug, give it a go.
