Crazy mouse problem

[ Editado ]

I have seen other cursor problems on various forums, but nothing like this.

I have an Acer AO722 notebook computer running Windows 7. The problem that I am having is that the touchpad repeatedly clicks the left button by itself. If I rest the cursor over the start button, the menu continually appears/disappears. The same happens when rested over the little arrow in the tray area. Moving the cursor activates any icons it may pass over. I can disable the mouse via the keypad with the fn+F7 keys and can use an external mouse without problem. If I re-enable the touchpad with the external mouse connected, the touch will not do its thing until the pad is touched. So once I put my finger on it, it starts its repeating clicks. If I reboot into safe mode, the problem is still there.

From purchase to about 6 later, the cursor was just fine.

Any questions for clarification are welcome.

I would like to solve this because I do not always have a smooth surface on which to use a mouse.

It could be the wrong driver.

I had two laptops (5733's) both into acer reapir, both came back with Synaptics driver installed, no configuration possible and were driving us crazy.

I installed the oldest Elantec driver from the product support page and can configure all aspects of the mousepad, touchpad or whatever you want to call it and all is once again well.

Be sure to check if your pad and buttons are configurable before changing drivers
