Hello,
Just did a clean install WIN 8 on a SSD drive. Now i dont have bluetooth at all. I´ve installed the Atheros WLAN + BT package.
But, windows doesn´t even find the device at all...!! I´ve got nothing to go on. Device manager cant find it, even Fn+F3 doesnt give me ANYTHING, no pop up for WLAN or BT... (launch manager installed)
Acer´s app "device fast-lane" gives me a slider for BT on/off but that does nothing as well...
I found a slider in windows connectivity once, but it was greyed out so i couldn´t click it... even if i could on the acer app.
So, ANY ideas anyone??
Unfortunately i didn´t even test it before i installed my SSD, so maybe it was a hardware problem all from the beginning?
Are there any other 2nd party programs out there that can scan my hardware maybe?
So weird also that only Fn+F3 doesnt work, all the other combos does, but no on screen pop up except for volume and brightness.
But if i uninstall Launch manager Fn+F3 turns on/off wifi. Also without graphical notifiation.
In task manager i can see BtTray and BT stackserver running ok
I´m LOST...
Thank you

Not all versions of the V3-571g ship with bluetooth. If you did not test prior to installing your SSD, you may check to make sure it actually has the bluetooth hardware. Acer has made a video to help you in determining this. I am including the link below.

I have the same problem but a little bit different. In my acer there is no wifi anymore but the bluetooth works (after windows 8 installation). I used to work with windows 7 on it and everything was fine. Of course I installed the last drivers. Don't forget that as I said before, everything was ok on windows 7. On control panel I can see atheros but there is no way to open wifi! Also why launch manager do not work correct? Fn + F4 to F8 works well. But Fn+F3 do nothing at all. There is no pop up to open BT or Wifi.
If you check it out on google you will find many people who have the same problem with acer v3-571G + win8.

Some combinations in launch manager like FN + F3 are not supported in Windows 8. What version of wireless driver do you have loaded?

First of all thank you very much for your reply. ![]()
The version of wireless drivers I use is: WLAN_Atheros_10.0.0.217.v3_Win8x64
The version of launch manager I have used is: LaunchManager_Dritek_7.0.5_W8x64 and now I use LaunchManager_Dritek_7.0.6_W8x64.
(all of them from acer site for my model)
My big problem is that I cannot open wifi. Even if I ignore Fn+F3, there is no other way to open wifi.

If you press Windows Key + C, then click settings, do you have an option for Wireless settings? If so, what do you see when you go into the settings? Is airplane mode on?

Yes I "have" an option for wifi settings but the button of wifi is not highlighted. It is transparent and I cannot press it. It is visible, but it is in the background. Like there is no wifi in my laptop... Only the BT button I can turn on. As for the airplane mode, no it is not on. This was the first thing I thought it went wrong, but no it is not in airplane mode.
My notebook seem to work perfect and very fast on windows 8, except wifi...
The problem is that in control panel I can see atheros and it says that works fine. But finally there is no wifi.
From a search on google I found that some other people updated their bios. Well I did that. From 1.08 to 1.13. Please notice that with 1.08 bios I could not even see BT!!! With 1.13 finally I saw BT, but not wifi....
Also in acer page for V3-571G there are some bios with number 2.xx. I am not able to upgrade to them becouse my notebook says that I cannot run 2.xx bios. Only 1.xx (like 1.13 that i finally installed).
Thank you again. If there is something else that is on your mind please help me.

I have spoken with my contacts here, and unfortunately, don't have many recommendations for troubleshooting this issue. When you upgraded, did you use the upgrade assistant? When upgrading a system to Windows 8, we encountered a similar problem, but after reloading Windows 7 and using the upgrade assistant to complete the upgrade, the issue went away. Have you tried using the upgrade assistant?

I just installed windows 8 without assistant. Do you believe it is better to return to windows 7 and make an upgrade with assistant?

Acer can only provide support for Windows 8 if the upgrade path was used. Unfortunately, I can not provide support for retail versions of Windows 8.
