My Aspire is only 1 1/2 years old and for whatever reason, it has stopped reading disks. According to the sticker on the lower right corner I have a DVD-Super Multi DL drive. It still shows up in "my computer", but when I put a disk in (DVD, CD, program) it does nothing. I've tried clicking on the drive with a disk in and it ejects the disk, stating not a valid disk. Please help because I really can't afford to go buy any new equipment.
Is the problem with one disc only or all discs? Were you able to read these discs previously and now cannot read the same discs?
One more question. Can you save any file to a disc?
If not, from AFAR I can only GUESS that it is a disc drive hardware problem.
If you can save, then it MAY be a software problem and hopefully others on this forum will offer a possible solution.
Otherwise you could try talking to a local computer repair shop.
