I have on seen 1 actual topic, and I tried what was said there ( uninstall the USB drivers and restart) the last updates came from Microsoft last week or so (only had only 1 month now) Over with Microsoft, they had a link to a newer realtek SD card reader driver. I can say that has not help me at all either. I can see the SD card in devise mgr, even on the small icon at lower rt side, to eject, but am not able to access the card at all. When opening "library" it does not show up there, below the "C" drive, neither does the USB reader. SO, what should I do at this point? Please help

Now, I have re-downloaded the Realtek Card Reader from Acer's support page, for my model, and that has not fixed the issue. Seems to me, that Microsoft are pointing there fingers toward Realtek and a newer download, however, I have not seen any help from Acer. Does anyone, know what the deal might be, with the Acer V5 and the card reader they have? Also, why the USB would have the same sort of issue (meaning, it does not even see a card reader plugged into it, or any of them) The onboard "trouble shooter" had not picked up on this either. So how do we use an SDHC card?

    Thanks for your time

I found the answer for my 4830T.   This made my SD Card Reader work finally after installing Windows 8.

Go into 'Computer Management' then 'Disk Management'  and the Card Reader shows up there. (Go to Control Panel >System and Security >Administrative Tools >  Click on the name "Administrative Tools" Then click on >Computer Management Then in the left panel under storage click >Disk Management

Your SD card reader should show up there.  Right Click on it and from the pop-up menu choose 'Change Drive Letter and Paths...' or 'Add Drive Letter..'  Assign it a drive letter, and viola it shows up when you double click the computer icon.
