I have an Aspire 5750 which has worked perfectly for a couple of years. However it has recently developed a fault, where the wireless network capability randomly disappears - this is now happening several times a day.
I have an Atheros AR5B97 wireless network adapter.
The only way for the computer to then "see" available wireless networks is by restarting the computer. Running network diagnostics and restarting the wireless network adapter has no effect. I have not recently installed any new software, except Windows updates.
I have tried:
- reinstalling the latest driver for the Atheros AR5B97
- cycling the power on my wireless router
- chaging power attributes on the Atheros AR5B97
Any clues?

Uninstalling the windows updates seems to have done the trick (fingers crossed) I've not disconnected all day now.
The ones which caused problems for me were installed on 10/07/13 and I had to uninstall them all 1-by-1 through the 'Uninstall a program' feature on the control panel. Obviously I've had to turn off automatic windows updates too.
Hopefully that works for you
