Acer Aspire 5251-1513 - won't start - black screen

I appreciate some input on my issue.

I bought Acer Aspire 5251-1513 laptop few years ago and the only modification that was done is to swap out the two 1GB memory module to 4GB ones.

It was working up until this afternoon and this evening when I try to turn on by pressing the power button, it won't start - meaning the screen is blank.

The power button lights ON but the next two buttons one is wifi and the other one like a drum shape are OFF but I do hear the fan and maybe the hard drive running.

Here are some steps that I took to try to resolve this issue but no avail.

1.Tried to power reset following the below link - did not help

2. Connected the VGA port to an external monitor and powered up, nothing on the external monitor.

3. Replaced the 8GB memory module with 2GB ones and tried to power up, won't start.

As I said the laptop is couple of years old so likely is out of warranty.

Any other pointers would be helpful.

This maybe the first time am solving my own issue.

After several reboots, I pressed both F8 and F1 keys and the monitor came to life Man Happy
