Hi all,
Well thought i would give this a go after reading all the posts about black screens etc
So i have an Acer Aspire 5741 ( Intel i3 ) 3GB ram etc.
My issue is a black display ( no ghosting ) Its totally black ! I have plugged it into an external VGA monitor and its absolutely fine !
Runs smoothly with no problems whatsoever, I have tried the following already .....
Hard reset - Removing battery , ac power etc
Reseating RAM
Updated BIOS to latest version ( v1.23 )
Updated graphics drivers
To my knowledge if it is running fine on an external monitor the GPU is fine and theres no issue ?? My only conclusion is that the display is stuck in sleep mode perhaps ??
Or i have a faulty display cable ( new one on way to be fitted tomorrow )
Im hoping one of you super users may have come across this issue or have a fix ?? Any suggestions gratefully received
PS if the LCD panel has gone then im fine to replace that as its not that expensive but want to rule everything out before i do

If you have display on an external monitor there is no issue with your bios, your ram or anything like that. Chances are either your LCD panel is dead or as you said the cable is fried (or disconnected). It's also possible that the LED strip isn't getting power. Try shining a flashlight on the panel and looking closely for color. Otherwise you can start with the cable like you said and then look into the LCD panel if that fails.

Well replaced the LCD cable but still no joy, I have also replaced the power button board ( thought it might of been stuck in hibernate )
Still have a completely black screen so im guessing it has to be the LCD screen its self ??

Might be the inverter, but more than likely the screen is kaput.
