So my wife got an acer aspire 5532 from a friend at work. She told her friend I could fix it lol. Apparently its been over heating. Here's what I know. The friend bought it last christmas from a place like rent a center. It had windows 7 on it and her daughter cracked the screen and they had someone replace it. As far as the over heating issue first thing I noticed is the fan is not working so I disassembled it and took the fan to work and put some power to it and it works just fine. So the fan works. Then I saw a post ( forget where ) that said if you erase acer epower management the fans dont work. I can't find everything i need to get epower management on there (links would be awesome). I've tried wiping it and putting 7 on tried putting vista on. Right now it's sitting on a box fan to keep it cool. Any ideas would be awesome. thanks so much

Hello,
Overheating and having a fan issue should be handled through the services of technical repair specialists. Why don't you contact a local technical support repair place or contact acer support services in your area to set up a repair if feasible.
It is best not to use a unit that you mention is overheating.

I can do the actual repair myself if I knew the cause. After many web searches it seems that I'm not the only with issue. No one seems to know what causes this with any certainty.
