I keep getting a message that an update is available (still running 3.0.1, not rooted), I download it, and then it starts unzipping and it says it is invalid.  This has been happening for many months now, and there doesn't seem to be any support available.  I have set my screen sleep to 30min, still having issues.  Is there something else I need to be doing?

Iconia tab update app is no longer available. I thought another update would happen that would fix this, now it is out of warranty and not supported.

You should be able to update straight from the settings for status of tablet, at the top should be update tablet.

Alternatively, you should be able to update through google play store (If that option is still there.)
