Hi

Updated machine to windows 8 and although card reader is present in device manager and showing working correctly nothing happens when I push in a known good working sd card. I can't find the sd card on the computer anywhere.

Updated all drivers to w8 spec from the main acer support website

updated bios

used microsoft fix it tool ro repair devices not detected error in troubleshooter

Don't know what else to try?

Thanks, I hope you can help

Regards

John

Did the card work under Windows 7?

Did you use the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant when upgrading to Windows 8?

Yes, multiple cards worked in the reader under windows 7. Now they do not.  I did use the upgrade assistant.  This machine was eligible for the reduced W8 upgrade.

The only error I can see is under the hardware troubleshooting area which returns:

'hardware changes might not have been detected'

The ;aptop no longer mounts SD cards.  I doubt this is a hardware fault even though device manager returns the realtek card reader as working properly.

    I'm stumped

    That's very odd.

Just on a wyld hunt, have you attempted to uninstall the drivers for the card reader and install the Windows 7 drivers?
