It mean it is not recognizing your hard drive.
It could just be loose, or you may need to reload the OS. If you don't have your eRecovery disk you can buy them on the Acer store.

in that case you would need to use an external disk drive.

i there a way to download the os back o factory with a usb? dont really want to blow a lot of money on this thing.

Yes, essentially you can transfer any files to a flash drive. However, to make the recovery work, you have to make sure you can actually boot from the USB drive. I will list a link below with the instructions to make a flash drive 'bootable'. I have never actually done it, but I have heard it works.
