Just kind of inherited a Aspire 5100, no ac cord, and the last time it booted no display. I'm in the process of taking care of the cord issue thru ebay and plan on doing the fn f10 keys for the display or lack of it. Plan on installing Vista Ultimate as it probably won't take windows 7. Was thinking maybe a battery recall or anything at all.
thanks

You can try using the FN + F6 to enable the backlight. This may resolve your display issue. In regards to the battery recall, there is not a recall on the Aspire 5100 battery. Unfortunately, Acer no longer stocks replacement batteries for the Aspire 5100. You may want to try looking online for a replacement battery.
