Wish I could enclose a picture but I can't. There's a black area on the top of the screen that starts under the black border - a bit ike a spider's web - and it's radiating down the screen (like cracks). I didn't do anything to make this happen. What has to be done to fix it? I live in the middle of Africa and my nearest repair shop is South Africa - two countries away. It's on top of any page/program that I open.

Unfortunately that is a cracked LCD screen. The only way to repair it is to replace the screen inside the lid. Also, under the warranty that came with the comptuer, this type of damage is usually not covered. I do not know how much it would cost, but the repair center most likely will not fix it for free. Sorry.

Thanks for your reply. I had a horrible suspicion it was something like that. What a bummer! And of course I'm not carrying any insurance.
