I have an Aspire 5553 works fine under Windows 7 x64 (as installed). If I try any Linux install (live CD or an empty SATA drive swapped out for the original windows 7 one) the right hand side usb ports do not work. Bit annoying.
I can use a mini USB hub and daisy chain USB devices off it.
The SD card reader is also not operational.
lspci shows the different controllers but no amount of messing about seems to allow them to be used...
Any ideas? Uses same crontroller driver I think.

We will leave this thread active and hopefully another Linux user will be able to provide you a resolution that will work.
Acer provides drivers and support for using your computer in its original configuration. Unfortunately, I do not have any suggestions for troubleshooting you can try for your linux operating system.
